Students who have been directed to register for the Board Success track based on a recommendation from the Clinical Education Department (CED) or Student Promotions Committee (SPC) are required to adhere to the SPC recommendations which may include achieving practice exam scoring thresholds and/or completing an external commercial board review program. Also, students who do not pass the COMLEX exam are subject to the policies described in the Student Handbook and the CED manual.
Completion of these recommendations is required to pass the course. All other requirements are the same as for self selected Board Success. In some cases a student may be required to use both Clinical Distinction blocks for Board Success, or use what they had intended to be a specialty track as a Board Success track. For example: .
- Students who used Board Success to prepare for COMLEX Level 1 also may be at risk of not passing COMLEX Level 2CE later in the third year. The SPC may require the student to use their second Clinical Distinction course as a second Board Success track.
- Students who used Board Success to prepare for COMLEX Level 1 but did not pass the exam. The SPC may require the student to use their second Clinical Distinction course as a second Board Success track in order to complete a directed study plan for their next attempt to pass.
- Students who used their first Clinical Distinction course for something other than a specialty track, but then are required by the SPC to use the Board Success track to prepare for COMLEX Level 2CE.
Contact your CD advisor if you are in one of these situations. . Your CD advisor can help you with drafting a narrative for your MSPE and using the Specialty Track forms for your second Board Success track.
